Jacko: Colchester United Not Wacko

Colchester United midfielder Johnnie Jackson has claimed today that the club will be able to survive the loss of so many key members of last season`s record-breaking squad.

While around half a dozen of thee team that finished tenth in the Championship last season have left for pastures new this summer, Jackson, who has opted to stay following his arrival a year ago, thinks new signings and confidence will heal the wounds.

He told the Colchester Evening Gazette: “We’ve a good enough squad to do well and it’s not been that unsettling. Players come and go in football all of the time and that’s the nature of the game.”

Jackson added that, even after the departures of Chris Iwelumo, Jamie Cureton, Chris Barker, Richard Garcia and Wayne Brown, the club can compete and maybe even improve on the 10th place finish, the highest in U`s history, of 2006-7.

“We’ve lost people but they have all been adequately replaced and we look like we’ve got a good balance,” he said.
