Jacko: No Panic!

Colchester United midfielder Johnnie Jackson is adamant that it is too early for the U’s to panic.

The U’s, who were hotly tipped for promotion at the start of the season, currently lie in 20th place in the League One standings. With only one League win to their name so far this season, that coming at Swindon Town, it’s been far from a good start. The U’s last game was a 2-0 defeat to Crewe Alexandra.

Jackson, 26, told The Colchester Gazette: ‘There`s no reason to think that it`s all doom and gloom.

‘It was one bad result.

‘We had been playing well and feeling pretty confident, without getting the results we had wanted.

‘After the last bad result we had on the opening day (against Hartlepool United), we came back stronger.

‘We went on a decent enough run after that and we`ll be looking to do the same again.

‘The game against Milton Keynes Dons (on Saturday) is a good chance for us to put things right.’

The ex-Tottenham Hotspur man feels the U’s are just lacking the cutting-edge.

He continued: ‘At the moment, we`re letting ourselves down with a little bit of quality when it comes to the crunch.

‘It`s just that final ball or final shot that is letting us down.

‘In the final third (against Crewe), our quality wasn`t there.

‘We got into a lot of decent positions in the first half, which I think has been the case in a lot of games this year.

‘The positive thing is that we are getting into those positions.

‘One day, everything will go for us and someone will get a hiding.’

Just lacking cutting edge? More like just lacking 4 solid defenders, a solid goalkeeper and some goal scorers and maybe a manager who can motivate the team!
