JOHNNIE JACKSON is set for another spell on the sidelines after being ruled out for three-four weeks.

The Colchester United midfielder was making his third substitute appearance since returning from a near two-month lay-off at Scunthorpe on Saturday. But disaster struck after just three minutes on the pitch when Jackson sustained a hamstring tear with his first real involvement in the game.

The 26-year-old fears the injury is likely to rule him out of action for the rest of this current campaign.

Speaking to the EADT, he said: ‘The results of the scan show that I have between a grade one and a grade two tear, which basically means that I’ll be out for three or four weeks.

‘I might make the last couple of games, if I’m lucky, but that could be my season over.’

Jackson, who has been a U’s player since the summer of 2006, was named player of the season last year.

‘I never usually get injuries, so this is really frustrating. It took eight weeks to get over the shoulder injury, which was the longest spell out of action in my whole career,’ frustrated Jacko.

Up until injuring his shoulder in mid-January, at home to Cheltenham, Jackson had played an integral part in the U’s side.

Jackson added: ‘I felt the hamstring go immediately. It was my first dynamic bit of action in the match, and even though I hadn’t done my hamstring before, I knew what had happened as soon as I felt it pop.’

So will Jacko be missed between now and May?
