Johnnie Jackson has been named the Official Colchester United Player of the Year in 2007/2008.

The U’s midfield maestro won ahead of top-scorer Kevin Lisbie and will collect the accolade after tomorrow’s match with Stoke City.

The ex-Tottenham man, who has featured in every league game this season, also scooped The Colchester Gazette Player of the Year award. Following Saturday’s match with Stoke there will be the presentation of five awards.

He succeeds Jamie Cureton in winning the award, speaking to the Gazette about Cureton’s move to Norwich, he said: ‘I’m in a different situation to Jamie.

‘A club came for him but I’ve got two years left on my contract so there’s no reason to think that I’ll be going anywhere else next season.

‘I’m in no rush to go anywhere.’

Well Done Jacko!
