Gary Johnson`s rant at his players after the Bristol-Colchester match yesterday shows what a valuable point the U`s earned.
High-flying Bristol are scaling the heights of the Championship in the same way Colchester did last season but City`s draw saw them denied the chance to go top of the table.
Colchester slipped back into the relegation zone despite the result, too, although Johnson was in no mood to praise the visiting team.
Johnson said: ‘The right time to rant and rave is when you are top of the league.
‘If you do it when you are bottom you know the players aren’t listening to you anyway.
‘Our lads have responded brilliantly to disappointing results this season and I’m sure they will do so again.
His side`s defending yesterday was poor according to their manager, who kept the team behind for an extra half-an-hour after the game.
“They needed reminding that standards have to be maintained if we are to go through with a second successive promotion challenge,” added Johnson.

Well credit has to be given to George and the players following last Saturdays defeat to Posh. Ifil looked a bit slow at times but wont judge him until he gets a good few games under his belt.
Good idea; Cup doesn’t matter to us now!
If we stay up this season, more investamnet in the summer then we have just got to try and become a mid-table Championship team for a couple of seasons.
