This time last week, Kevin Lisbie was proverbial no-man`s land after Ipswich declared he could stay on laon with Colchester too late to face Preston North End.

Since, he has officially returned until the end of the season – but with conditions and on permanent call-back, sound Town exercise their right to sell the player during January`s transfer window.

Unconfirmed interest from Championship Crystal Palace, then later Queen`s Park Rangers, fizzled out, although it had looked an impossibility anyway given their well-documented financial problems.

I was delighted to get the call from Ipswich to say that Kevin could continue with us,” said boss Aidy Boothroyd earlier this week in the EADT. He previously insisted the U`s would priced out of offering the player a permanent move to Essex.

Roy Keane yesterday admitted the mix-up which meant Lisbie was not in last weekend`s squad was because he had reassessed his options.

He told the Suffolk club`s official site: “I know I said a few weeks back that Kevin would be coming back but I am entitled to change my mind and he will be staying with Colchester for now. He is playing games there and we have a lot of options here but the situation can change if we get an offer for him.”

Should Lisbie continue to impress for the U`s, they may be tempted to tender a bid at the end of the season. His Ipswich contract runs until 2011.

Even if Ipswich get an offer for Kev – he can easily reject a move away. I think he’ll stay until the end of the season…
