U’s skipper Kem Izzet has called on the supporters to get behind the side this Saturday so that everyone can pull in the right direction.

Joe Dunne’s side take on Scunthorpe at the Weston Homes Community Stadium this weekend as 20th takes on 21st in the division’s biggest game at the bottom.

‘Saturday is a big game, but it’s only as you big as you make it,’ Kem said whilst speaking to the official website. ‘The last few weeks have only intensified the importance of Saturday, but everyone needs to pull behind us.

‘The crowd have been fantastic and we all hope they can just stay with us and get behind us even more.

‘You just want to give the fans a result, and I can assure them personally that we’re all trying our hardest and I think that the performance at Doncaster showed that, too.’

Certainly, the trip to Doncaster last weekend saw the U’s control the game as they took on promotion-chasing opposition that moved joint top of the league with all three points that were harshly picked up.

With just under two-hundred supporters travelling to Yorkshire to back the side, Kem has affirmed that the support and backing helps the players.

‘We all appreciate their support and it does lift you when you hear them, so the more noise that is made then the better it is for everyone,’ he confirmed.

‘The fans are a massive part of the club and everyone knows that we would be nowhere without them; the club wouldn’t run.

‘Everyone needs to stick together, pull in the right direction and make the Weston Homes a real fortress on Saturday to pick up all three points.’
