Colchester`s Kem Izzet has vowed to reproduce the form he showed against Wolves in midweek when the U`s travel to Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow.

Izzet, who had a last-gasp effort cannon off the post during added time, has since admitted that the club cannot afford to rue past victories and must search to end their winless run on as soon as possible.

“It’s tough to take at the moment, because the game at Wolves was the best that we’ve played this season, especially away from home,” explained Izzet to the EADT.

“To lose again is a bitter pill to swallow. We’re not getting the rub of the green at the moment, but we can’t afford to get disappointed. Football has a knack of kicking you in the teeth, but you’ve got to keep going.”

The U`s badly need a win, but Izzet reminded those of little faith that Colchester will get some points again soon.

He admitted: “I’m not going to say that I don’t look at the table. I think all players look at the table and at the results of the other teams around them.

“We know that we have to put it right, and we’ll be hoping to do just that at Hillsborough. It’s a great place to play football.”
