Colchester United manager Paul Lambert was pleased with his players following Saturday’s win over Stockport County.
David Perkins and Clive Platt struck to give Lambert the three points in his first game since taking over as U’s boss. To read Vital Colchester’s match report, click here.
The win at Edgeley Park, the U’s first league win of October, hoisted the U’s out of the League One relegation places.
Lambert said: ‘To go to Stockport and beat a team that had been going really well was terrific.
‘It`s not an easy place to come and their terrific fanbase helps them an awful lot but the lads were phenomenal.
‘When you have that work ethic at a football club then you have always got a chance of getting something.
‘We have lads who can make something happen for us and lads who can defend our goal.
‘You just have to find a formula to bring those things together and it was a big performance.
‘The lads have taken a lot of knocks and we will try and bring this on.
‘I think they deserve credit for bouncing back from what happened at Cheltenham.
‘Yes, we will have setbacks like anyone else but the most important thing is to never be too despondent when you get knocks.
‘The most important thing is that the fans and the players work hard then we have a chance.’
