Former Celtic and Motherwell star Paul Lambert has rejected speculation that he is about to trade England for Scotland.

The Colchester United boss has committed his future to the Essex club, following suggestion that he could be about to return to the land where he made it big as a player.

Lambert, who has pledged to deliver a top-of-the-table challenge next season however said he was “flattered” to be linked with the post.

“It’s very flattering being linked with the Motherwell job but I’m happy at Colchester and that’s where my future lies,’ Lambert explained to the Daily Record.

“I love it down here and the club is fantastic. My chairman has been terrific with me and I’m excited about next season.

“Colchester is a great place to be and I’m loving every minute while I’m here. That’s all I’m thinking about.”

Case closed, it seems.

Is Paul Lambert a great manager in-the-making?
