Colchester’s League 1 season continued with a draw against Millwall at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Saturday.
A point from a nil-nil draw with promotion chasing Millwall ordinarily wouldn’t be bad for Colchester but, as this stage, it wasn’t really enough.
Chris Taylor’s effort against the post for Millwall was as close as either side got meaning Colchester remain in 23rd place after this point but with the U’s seven-points from safety we needed all three really didn’t we!

Wigan (five-one) with a crushing win at Shrewsbury will now, having extended their unbeaten run too, be hot favourites to go on and win the title ahead of Burton (one-one) after the Brewers dropped more points in a draw with Bury at the Pirelli Stadium.
They remain the top two and ‘the ones to catch’ though.
A finish in the play-off places was strengthened by Bradford (one-nil) with a win over Scunthorpe with this now looking as though this will be what Walsall (two-nil) will have to accept following defeat at Sheffield United with Gillingham (nil-nil) doing likewise with them held at home by Coventry.
Colchester’s (nil-nil) survival hopes weren’t helped too much by this draw at the Weston Homes Community Stadium against Millwall, who also look a good bet for the play-offs now.
Staying up though is something Blackpool (two-nil) increased hopes of achieving with a Bloomfield Road win over Southend, who will now almost certainly fail to get into the top six with Crewe’s (three-nil) own survival hopes all but over after the defeat at Peterborough.
