Colchester’s League 1 season continued with a win against Doncaster at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Friday.

A second half comeback (which saw three-goals in 10-minutes) saw Colchester back from a goal-down to beat Doncaster four-one to move off the foot of the table.

Gary McSheffrey had Doncaster ahead through his goal on 21-minutes but Colchester were level through Chris Porter on 62-minute, goals from Elliott Lee and a minute later from Alex Gilbey had the U’s three-one up with 72-minutes played.

Richard Brindley made sure of the win three-minutes from time.

Here’s a round up of the League 1 action from the other games played at the start of the Easter weekend….

These were the other results.

Friday 25th March 2016
Barnsley 0-0 Scunthorpe
Blackpool 1-1 Bury
Colchester 4-1 Doncaster
Rochdale 4-1 Southend
Sheff Utd 3-2 Crewe
Shrewsbury 1-1 Port Vale
Swindon 1-4 Wigan
Peterborough 3-1 Coventry

These games are to be played.

Saturday 26th March 2016
Burton v Oldham
Bradford v Millwall
Chesterfield v Fleetwood

The Burton lead (on Friday) anyway was closed by Wigan (four-one), who extended their unbeaten run with a heavy win at Swindon – Barnsley (nil-nil) retained the final play-off place on Friday, but had to settle for a point at Oakwell against Scunthorpe under new boss Graham Alexander.

Looking to get into the top six are Southend (four-one) beaten at Rochdale, so these chances weren’t helped at all, with Sheffield United’s (three-two) hopes helped with a win against struggling Crewe at Bramall Lane.

Colchester (four-one) will still need to pull off something special to stay up but this win against Doncaster, who drop deeper into trouble themselves after this game, took them off the foot of the table after the game at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
