Colchester’s league 1 survival bid, which had been revived, was derailed at the weekend when we lost at the WHCS against Crewe and we suffered defeat against in midweek against Sheffield Wednesday.

A chance to ‘get back on track’ is what we hoped to do but came away from Bramall Lane having been beaten four-one on Tuesday….

Sheffield United got off to a flyer with Baxter (8) putting them ahead early on but only after Szmodics was denied by a fine save by Sheffield United ‘keeper Turner.

Porter, against his former side, was also denied by a Turner save when he did well to keep our his effort before Done (37) beat Walker to end a find move to give the hosts a two-goal lead at the break.

The home side sealed it when McEveley (59) made it three before Szmodics got his goal, but this was nothing but a consolation….

Sheffield United had the final saw when Briggs fouled Coutts in the area to gave them a penalty – Baxter (80) confirmed the points beyond doubt when he made it four-one.

Attention now moves away from this game and turns to our next one against Oldham and we are looking for your view on what way this will go?
