League Reject Weekend Rematch

The Football League this evening has ended any speculation that Colchester`s postponed match against Hull might be replayed this weekend.

The match, originally scheduled for last Saturday, was called off by the referee Pat Miller due to the potentially dangerous playing conditions, created by excess rain.

Both clubs had been in dialogue today in an attempt to set the tie up for this weekend, despite the fact that the Tigers flew out to Dubai on Sunday, because there is a space in the calendar given that nether Hull or Colchester were involved with the forthcoming FA Cup games.

The appeal to replay the game, made this morning by both clubs, was not accepted by the League because of the unrealistic expectation that the new date would have placed upon the Hull squad to return to the UK.
