Kevin Lisbie felt his late ‘equaliser` in the U`s defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday should have stood.

Lisbie, who had already found the net once in the game, met Phil Ifil`s low cross, only to see the assistant referee raise his flag for offside.

The Jamaican told The Colchester Gazette: ‘I thought I was right behind the defender.’

‘Phil (Ifil) did really well to get the ball in for me I didn’t think that there was any way that I could have been offside.

‘If I was, it would have been rubbish on my part.’ He explained.

Lisbie also said of how he and his team-mates will not give up: “We’re not going to give up, especially for the gaffer because he’s been brilliant.”

“We know we have to pull our fingers out and the players all have to take responsibility.” He added.
