Boomerang boy Kevin Lisbie might have been paying tribute to Vital Colchester in the latest EADT newspaper when expressing thanks to those who first invented speculation this summer that he could answer the U`s goalscoring need.

Beforehand there was a lot of paper talk about Colchester being interested, but it was only talk. The talk turned into interest – I don`t know who started it but I would like to thank them for it!

There have been mixed messages, if reading between the lines, about some of the fine-detail facts behind Lisbie`s sensational return on loan from neighbours Ipswich Town this week.

While previously the striker said he had to consider dropping down a division from the Championship, this report quotes him declaring it “was never an issue.”

Super Kev grabbed two goals in second debut game, against another club has already played for.

Norwich City were a club he said he would much rather have avoided, after becoming a pantomime villain in an Ipswich derby-game last term.

Lisbie added: “If I had to pick a game NOT to mark my return, it would have been Norwich City!

Although network sister site Vital Ipswich called Lisbie a Big-time Charlie this week, saying he see has the self-image as ” a sort of God figure” to Colchester fans after his great first spell, the man himself told us: “I`m not too big to be playing in League One.”

At least he gave thier fans – and ours – two more reasons to like him, by bagging a sublime brace on an East Anglian derby day.

Top of the league, anyone?
