LuaLua. Remember the name? Well now Kazenga LuaLua, brother of former Colchester legend Lomano, is taking his first footsteps into the world of professional football, having made his Premiership debut for Newcastle as a substitute last weekend against Bolton.
The 17-year-old, often confused as Lomano`s cousin, has been big in reserve football for the past couple of seasons and is now on the verge of reviving a name etched in Colchester United folklore under Kevin Keegan.
Striker Lomano, now with Greek giants Olympiakos, was made famous at Newcastle for his athletic summersault celebration and still holds the joint record with Greg Halford as a player who has commanded the most money of any outgoing U`s player.
Kazenga, unlike his brother, is a winger and he appeared professionally for the first time in Newcastle`s recent game with Stoke in the FA Cup.
Newcastle United Academy director Joe Joyce has already given him a glowing reference in the City`s Chronicle, saying at the start of January: “He is a young player of rich potential he will hopefully get more opportunities at that level.”
Joyce added: “People might think he is an unknown but, believe me, clubs know what he is all about already. He has been playing in the FA Youth Cup in the last two seasons and played a lot of reserve-team football.
“Sides will be hoping to learn how to deal with him because he can be such a menace,” said Joyce of Newcastle`s number 38.
