Colchester United winger Kevin McLeod has today left the club to join Brighton and Hove Albion, on a free transfer.

McLeod, who joined from Swansea in 2006, was out-of-contract and, despite being offered a new deal, has decided his future lies elsewhere. The former Swansea man will now link up with ex-U’s assistant Micky Adams, on the South Coast. Macca has put pen-to-paper on a two year deal with Albion.

U’s boss Geraint Williams told CU-FC.com: ‘We made Kevin the offer of a reduced contract at the end of the season, which meant he was able to talk to other clubs.

‘I have since learned through other mediums that he has decided he will be signing for Brighton.

‘As with every player that leaves the club, we thank Kevin for all of his efforts and wish him well for the future.’

It has been a busy day for the U’s transfer-wise, along with McLeod leaving, Matt Lockwood signed from Nottingham Forest earlier today.

good riddance is all i can say. couldn’t last 90minutes and didn’t seem bothered when taken off, it was like he couldn’t wait to get in the showers.

Well we have Medi Elito now, so don’t need him, Jacko can also play there, or Williams may go after another left winger to bulk up competition.

This is a most interesting signing for Brighton, if he doesn’t do well for them then I’ll say he’s a lazy sod!

I always thought he was a good player for you. Lets hope he doesn’t come back to haunt you next season.
