Colchester United are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Gavin Massey in the Easter Weekend four one victory over Doncaster Rovers at the Colchester Community Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Massey was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Colchester gave themselves a glimmer of hope in their battle for Sky Bet League 1 survival, with Massey inspiring a comeback against fellow relegation candidates Doncaster Rovers. The winger ran Rovers ragged as the U’s produced four second-half goals to romp to a 4-1 victory in Essex.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Massey for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Trevor Carson (Hartlepool United), George Williams (Barnsley), Brian Wilson (Oldham Athletic), Michael Harriman (Wycombe Wanderers), Kyle Bennett (Portsmouth), Scott Brown (Accrington Stanley), Jason Kennedy (Carlisle United), Gavin Massey (Colchester United), Tom Hopper (Scunthorpe United), Jamille Matt (Plymouth Argyle), Ollie Watkins (Exeter).

Manager – Phil Parkinson (Bradford City).
