The Football Association have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game against Charlton Athletic this weekend.

Colchester United host Charlton Athletic on Saturday January 9 for the FA Cup Third Round tie at the Colchester Community Stadium and the match carries a 3pm kick off.

Referee: Christopher Kavanagh
Linesmen: David Rock and Gavin Muge
Fourth Official: Nicholas Cooper

Match Day referee Kavanagh (Lancashire) has officiated one Colchester game this season – the four nil loss to Fleetwood back in August. In that game he showed two yellow cards, one to each side.

He has however already taken in 20 other matches so far in 2015-16 and in those games, across all competitions and Football divisions, he has handed out a total of 72 yellow cards and one red card.

He was most card happy in the match between Huddersfield and Preston on Boxing Day with a total of seven yellows being shown. Blackpool and Barnsley on September 19 saw a total of six yellows and he also showed six earlier in the season in the Capital One Cup clash between Aston Villa and Notts County in August.

Let`s hope it`s not another repeat and more of our players edge closer to automatic bans.
