The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game against Sheffield United this weekend.

Colchester United host Sheffield United on Saturday January 16 for the game at the Colchester Community Stadium and the match carries a 3pm kick off.

Referee: Brendan Malone
Linesmen: Carl Fitch and Darren Blunden
Fourth Official: Ian Cooper

Match Day referee Malone (Wiltshire) has officiated one Colchester game this season – the FA Cup six two victory over Wealdstone. In that game he showed three yellow cards, one to Colchester.

He has however already taken in eighteen other matches so far in 2015-16 and in those games, across all competitions and football divisions, he has handed out a total of 40 yellow cards and three red cards.

He was most card happy in the match between Portsmouth and Accrington Stanley on September 5 with a total of seven yellows being shown.

Let`s hope it`s not another repeat and more of our players edge closer to automatic bans.
