Matt Holland: I`ll Carry On Playing

Matt Holland, the former Ipswich and Charlton stalwart, has come over all movie-like about Colchester United`s managerial post.

He denies in the Colchester Daily Gazette that he`ll compromise his legendary status at Portman Road by riding to the U`s rescue like a traditional all-action hero, as a replacement for Paul Lambert, who defected to Norwich City.

I haven`t applied for it,” he said.

It was suggested he might have been interested in the vacancy, either as a stand-alone candidate or with a view to working at the A-list Essex club alongside former Irish international teammate, Mark Kinsella.

Instead, Holland says he`ll settle into the comfortable surroundings of a soccer studio, while looking for an extended role in the motion-picture otherwise known as his own professional career.

Both in the summer and during this week, circumstances seem to have ruled him out of a full-time U`s move – he spent several weeks getting himself in shape for the new season by training with at United in pre-season.

He seems to likes the popcorn snacks and a squashy sofa that undoubtedly come with working for American boradsacster ESPN: “I`m doing lots of media work at the moment and it`s something I really enjoy,” he told the Gazette.

Good luck in finding a new club, Matt.
