Matt Connolly has insisted that Colchester United are not dwelling on their latest defeat at the hands of Watford but instead are looking at Saturdays clash with Cardiff in a positive mood.
The defender, on a season-long loan deal from Arsenal, admitted that he and his team-mates are looking at the pluses from their game ahead of tomorrow`s trip to South-Wales.
Connelly, 19, concluded that his goal in the 3-2 loss to Watford, on Tuesday night, was nothing more than a mere consolation.
The centre-half, who has put in some impressive performances in a U`s shirt, says he would much rather Colchester take three points from a game, than see his name on the scorers’ tally.
“It was nice to score but the goal didn`t mean that much because we lost that game,” He told The Colchester Gazette recently.
“We gave Watford a good game and we were unlucky not to take something from the match.
“Their third goal was a good finish but we will watch it again and see what we could have done better,” added Connelly.
And the England U-21 international is looking at Saturday`s trip to Cardiff in an optimistic fashion, “We`ve done quite well away from home this season and now we`ll look to get something from the Cardiff game on Saturday.”
