Alan Maybury has left Colchester United in a return to Scotland, signing for St. Johnstone until the end of the season.
The 32-year-old former Leeds, Leicester, Hearts and Aberdeen
defender spent nearly a year without a game at the club and was largely preferred only under former club boss and now Norwich manager, Paul Lambert.
Lambert signed the experienced player on a free eighteen months ago but since then Colchester have seen Aidy Boothroyd come and go to Coventry, meanwhile leaving Maybury languishing as a sometimes third or fourth option as fight full back.
John Ward, current boss, praised the player`s professionalism before allowing him to leave with good grace this week.

VITAL COLCHESTER; YOUR VOICE, YOUR CHOICE!
VITAL COLCHESTER IS 100% UNOFFICIAL – FOR THE FANS, BY THE FANS!
Good news – happy for the club and the player!
Was probably on a fair wage so at least it frees some money up for a new signing or two before the window closes
Indeed, good luck Alan. Good deal for all involved!
Just happy for both sides as it saves us money and gets Maybury games!
