Alan Maybury, the former Leeds and Leicester City and Hearts defender, has extended his Colchester career.
The full-back, Paul Lambert`s first as manager signing last winter, has been considering a new contract for some time, along with fellow defender Pat Baldwin.
He joined the club as an out-of-contract free agent after a three week trial in December 2008 and says he is happy to have agreed to say in Essex for another 12 months.
Maybury, 30, told the official site: “It is pleasing to be able extend my contract. I missed out on a lot of football last season so I can`t wait until August and the new campaign. As mad as it sounds, I`m looking forward to a full pre-season`s training!”
The U`s are now hoping that Baldwin will announce similar news in the coming days.

Will Baldwin join Maybury in pledging his futue to the club?
