Colchester United`s Teddy Sheringham, who has today formally received his MBE award, thinks England will now qualify for Euro 2008 ahead of tomorrow`s crunch match with Croatia.

The former England hit-man gave his views after appearing at Buckingham Palace, where he was ordained by Her Majesty the Queen.
“We have been very fortunate but at the end of the day a league table doesn’t lie,” Sheringham is quoted as saying.

‘You have to get the points on the table and if we come out with the right amount of points at the end of the group then we deserve to go through.

‘It’s not all gone according to plan but at the moment we’ve got one game at home to play and we need to get a result in it, so I still think we’ll get there.”

Teddy also backed current manager Steve McLaren, who worked with the striker at Manchester United, to overcome the obstacle, describing him as a “fantastic” coach.
