Mixed Feelings For Boss Ward

John Ward, manager of Colchester United, admitted to having mixed feelings after watching a frantic 2-2 draw against Dagenham & Redbridge.

The U’s failed to perform to their recent performance level but, due to some poor finishing by the visiting Daggers, along with a great battling spirit, managed to earn a point.

Ward said, post-match: ‘It was a typical local derby. Dagenham played well against us and we had to work very, very hard to stay with it.’

The result sees the U’s make it nine games unbeaten, a run that Ward is glad to remain.

‘We’re still unbeaten, but I have mixed feelings about how we have gone about it. At home we want to do better, but the effort and work-rate was top drawer,’ he added.

And Ward concluded: ‘I was disappointed at half-time, but it might turn out to be a decent point.’
