John Ward`s reticence to confirm an interest in Marvin Morgan has come to no avail as Aldershot Town have admitted there was formal interest from the U`s.

Sky Sports have been reporting that Peterborough United, Swindon Town and Tranmere Rovers were also in the running, but Morgan has also been interesting Rotherham and Wycombe Wanders.

I had a good chat with Colchester’s manager on the phone and he told me that he was interested in Marvin and that my chairman [Kris Machala] would be getting a call from his chairman. John wanted me to know the situation,” said Shots manager Kevin Dillon in the Aldershot News & Mail.

The matter of Colchester`s interest was supposed to remain private but somehow slipped into the public forum and the fact that the Essex club would not meet Aldershot`s valuation was confirmed earlier both in today`s Essex-based Colchester Gazette and EADT newspapers.
