Aidy Boothroyd labelled Colchester United transfer-target Nobby Solano ‘a wonderful ambassador’ for football, before revealing that no final decision on the Peruvian’s U’s move has been made.

A week long transfer-tale was thought to have been concluded after the veteran Premier League ace himself claimed he was set to sign for a period of six-months. However, no official confirmation has followed and Boothroyd admitted that he was not rushing into any decisions.

He told The Daily Gazette: ‘Nobby is a fantastic character and a wonderful ambassador for the game.’

The 35-year-old, who can play anywhere down the right-hand side, has been training with the U’s for the past couple of weeks. But boss Boothroyd was quick to acknowledge that Solano is more than likely to be attracting interest from other clubs monitoring the current situation.

‘I`m aware that there are obviously other teams that are interested in him but I won`t be rushed in to any decision on him,’, he added.

He’s having his second trial, as Aidy said. And Henderson has been signed since, almost instead of him. Did Solando speak too soon on this deal? Tell me I’m wrong…!

Yeah, not quite sure what’s happened here. The last time Aidy spoke it seemed like it was imminent, now not so…
