John Ward yesterday confirmed he will not bring in any of his own coaching staff at Colchester United following his appointment as manager.

He himself was drafted in by former manager Aidy Boothryod nine months ago from Stockport County but will not follow suit now the ex manager has move on to Coventry City.

The new man said: “They`re a good group of people. We`ve got a really good backroom staff here who came to the fore last year for Aidy and really pushed on and improved the situation at the club. We`ll be looking to do everything we can with the same. No changes, no additions, nothing else.”

Here sits another signal from the material, taken here off the official site, that a key word of Ward`s tenure as manager will necessarily be pure and simple continuity.

Joe Dunne, former first-team coach, echoes Ward’s rise in the ranks and has become United’s new assistant boss.
