Michael O’Donoghue has suffered a season ending injury that will keep him out of the Colchester first-team plans for the remainder of the season.

A training ground injury this week has seen him sustain a ruptured knee ligament with Tony Humes confirming to the official website that he’ll not play again this season, which is a blow for all concerned as he was considering him seriously for the league 1 game with Yeovil.

He said: ‘Michael has been in the squad since the Barnsley game and was in strong contention again for the trip to Yeovil.

‘Unfortunately for him, he’s picked up this injury as he twisted in training and is likely to be out for the rest of the season now.’

His involvement, as a member of the playing first-team, has been minimal this season but he’s been involved in the squad recently but will now have to wait until next season until he can be step up his first-team hopes.
