To Carlisle United F.C… Ok, ok, so it may not be the CUFC your familiar with but I didn’t lied! Phew, now that bad joke is out the way…

Former Colchester United transfer target, from the Paul Lambert era, Richard Offiong yesterday penned a two-year deal with the U’s League One rivals.

Earlier this summer, July to be precise, the U’s agreed a fee for Offiong and his Hamilton Accies strike partner Joel Thomas. The latter, as you may well know, jumped at the chance of a move South to the Community Stadium but it was a different story with Offiong.

After a no-show for his arranged medical, the U’s move fell through.

A couple of weeks later, the U’s made a sensational loan offer to land Kevin Lisbie, which succeeded – I know who’d I’d rather have!

But now Offiong has made the move South too, but 356 miles less, with a switch to the Cumbrians. It is strongly believed Offiong was keen not to uproot his family over such a long distance. Good on him, I say.

  • That’s that, then. Sadly! But you are right, I’d rather be called a Kevin Lisbian than known as offal!

  • Shows that he did want to just stay more North – as you cant say he would go to Carlisle over us for footballing reasons. But like you say Lis is king!
