The U’s links with Chelsea have continued to show signs of strength this summer with the addition of powerful centre-half, Daniel Pappoe.

Pappoe becomes the third player to join from the Stamford Bridge U21s outfit, following team mates Billy Clifford and Sam Walker over to the Weston Homes from London.

Although Billy Clifford will be plying his trade in the second tier with Yeovil this season, Walker has since returned for a second spell and will link up with his fellow Blues youngster.

The 19-year-old Ghanaian has been with Chelsea for almost a decade and has featured consistently in their youth backlines alongside Walker, who admits to knowing his game well.

‘I know Danny really well,’ Walker told the official site. ‘He’s been at Chelsea longer than I have and we’ve been through all the age groups together.

‘I know his game and he’s a really good acquisition for the club.’

Pappoe has featured regularly for the U’s throughout pre-season, displaying comfort with the ball at his feet as well as a colossal strength.

The youngster’s development has been halted in recent seasons with a couple of unfortunate injuries, and he will be hoping to make a big impression in his season with the U’s.
