Paul Lambert, born 7 August 1969, in Paisley, Scotland.
Lambert started his playing career with Linwood Rangers Boys’ Club in 1980, before joining St Mirren professionally five years later. In 1987, as a 17-year-old, he won his first Scottish Cup winner’s medal.
After eight years at Love Street, Lambert made the move to Motherwell. He featured more than 100 times in a Well shirt. Lambert began to catch the eye, putting in some masterful midfield displays.
Following a three-year tenure at Fir Park, Lambert transferred to the continent, with German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund. A fans favourite at the Westfalenstadion, Lambert helped Dortmund lift the UEFA Champions League in May 1997. He impressed during the final, keeping French superstar Zinedine Zidane quiet, in a 3-1 victory over Juventus.
Six-months later, after just over a year in Germany, Scottish giants Celtic paid £2,000,000 for his services. During a fruitful eight year stay in Glasgow, Lambert won four Scottish Premier League titles, two Scottish Cups, two CIS Insurance Cups and was captain of the side that reached the 2003 UEFA Cup Final. Despite losing the final 3-2, he had become a very influential player for the Hoops. Lambert pulled on a Green and White shirt nearly 200 times, while at Celtic Park.
Lambert also won 40 caps for his country, Scotland, scoring once, and played in the 1998 World Cup.
After studying for football coaching qualifications in 2005, Lambert made the step into management with Livingston, in June that year. Less than a year in, he resigned after managing only two wins in a poor period at the Almondvale Stadium.
In June 2006, Lambert crossed the boarder, into England, and was appointed Wycombe Wanderers boss. He took the chairboys to the 2006 League Cup semi-finals, knocking out Fulham and Charlton Athletic in the process. They eventually lost to Chelsea, despite holding them to a draw in the first leg.
Last season Lambert lead Wanderers to the League Two play-off semi-finals, where they lost to Stockport County. A couple of days after the play-off defeat Lambert resigned from his post at Adams Park.
