Colchester United drove a hole through their previous transfer record securing the services of striker Clive Platt for £300,000.

Platt scored 18 goals for MK Dons last year turning down the offer of a new contract to join Colchester.

Platt speaking to BBC Essex said, ‘The fact I’m the club’s record signing doesn’t bother me. I didn’t have anything to do with that, that’s between Colchester and MK Dons.’

‘It was difficult to leave Milton Keynes in one way but I wanted to test myself at the higher level.’

Another great signing along with flying winger Mark Yeates, word has it that tomorrow will be another busy day, things are looking up and hopfuly Colchester fans can see that the club IS taking steps to be competitive next season.
