Colchester have still got it all to do if we’re to stay in League 1 but our chances are looking a little better now than they were ahead of the game at Port Vale on Good Friday!

The two-one win at Vale Park at least gives us some hope again and restores hope that the break we had didn’t impact on us negatively….What this win also does is drag Port Vale back into the relegation mix.

Port Vale looked destined to breakthrough but thanks to saves from Walker, from Marshall and Williamson, we got through to half time on level terms.

With the hour approaching we then went ahead when Moncur (57) fired us into a lead with us giving some breathing space 20-minutes later when Norwich loanee slammed Murphy (77) slammed home a second.

Dodds (84) volleyed Port Vale back into the game with six-minutes left but this was nothing more than a consolation goal in the end as we picked up a huge three-points.

It’s still four-points between us and League 1 safety but it gives us hope again and, when they weren’t too long ago pushing for the play-offs, sees Port Vale drop to within four-points of the relegation zone themselves….

Now to follow this up with a win again Barnsley at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, but will we?
