Colchester United manager Geraint Williams reckons the match against Peterborough, as drawn for the U`s from yesterday`s third round pot, will be “a fantastic occasion”.
“The first thing we wanted is a home tie and it’s quite a local game as well so it should be a fantastic occasion.”
The 45-year-old Welshman added on the Colchester Evening Gazette website yesterday: “The FA Cup is a fantastic competition and we don’t seem to have had much luck with home games in the cup.”
Colchester have a fantastic and illustrious cup history, but their perilous form in the Championship this season brought the following warning: “We’ll make no qualms about it – our main priority is the league.
‘We want to be going into the new stadium in the Championship but a cup run is always good.”
The management team, of Darren Ferguson and Barry, at London Road also received praise from Williams, who added: “Peterborough have assembled a strong squad and have spent a lot of money on players from the lower leagues.”
“They have a very bright and up and coming young manager,” he said.

Not exactly a great draw Geriant to be fair!
He’s playing it up! But he’s right, we’d swap it for three points in the league!
I Look forward to it…the cup makes a change…
