The Official Website also saw the U’s confirm the loan arrival of Jamie Jones from Preston North End.

Former Everton and Leyton Orient ‘keeper Jones has come to the Weston Homes Community Stadium from Preston on a three-month loan deal, which is set to run until 12th December.

Jones hasn’t managed too much first-team football with Preston since signing from them from Leyton Orient, he made almost 200 appearances for Orient before that, and also went out on loan to League 1 sides Coventry and Rochdale last season.

Injuries to Sam Walker and James Bransgrove, and the decision to allow Chris Lewington to leave the WHCS recently, means that Jones will be battling with summer signing Elliott Parish to be the no.1 for the U’s while Walker is out.

Dillon Barnes also arrived recently, however the youngster is likely to be ‘one for the future’ but he’ll still feel he’s battling with them both for a place.

Jones would anticipate playing, more often than not, otherwise he would have stayed at Deepdale wouldn’t he as their no.2….
