PETERBOROUGH UNITED make the relatively short trip to Colchester today to face Paul Lambert`s men as they bid to secure automatic promotion to the Championship.

Former U`s youth trialist, Aaron Mclean, has fired Posh toward the top of the League but their fantastic run this season has been no match for Leicester City, new Champions.

Darren Ferguson, son of Sir Alex, has done a fine job in his first managerial role – a double promotion would represent a remarkable achievement.

Colchester United have watned away fans not to inade the pitch, should Posh secure ptomotion this afternoon.

The home team have managed to pick up just two wins from their last six home games, however.

Vital Quotes:

U`s manager Paul Lambert, before kick-off, told BBC Essex: ‘We just want to win the game.

We got a really good result last weekend. Our last home game against Brighton was unacceptable; Peterborough are a really good side. We`ll have to play well to win.’

Darren Ferguson, Posh boss, said in the Evening Telegraph : ‘I’ve had a feeling for a while that it will go right down to the wire and I haven’t changed my mind. We are fully focused on our own game tomorrow.

‘We know we need to win and we know that it won’t be easy as Colchester are a very good side with a very good manager.

‘But the lads have been sharp in training and they look in the mood to give a good performance and get another three points.

‘We will have to be at our best to win though.”

Colchester United Team News:

Clive Platt is back in the squad and ready to face his former club, but behind those headlines is the issue of the number of unavailable players for the U`s.

Colchester will be without their midfield duo Dean Hammond (suspended) and pint-sized David Perkins, who has a knee problem.

New-contract hopeful
Alan Maybury, usually a defender, should again fill the midfield birth. Hammond could still make an appearance, to collect his Player of the Season award.

Other absentees for the home side will be Johnnie Jackson (hamstring), Paul Reid (knee) and Steven Gillespie (ankle).

Player to watch: Mark Yeates

The wing-man was in good for last weekend, and although it might be a bit predictable to single him out as the most likely threat, instead he is chosen for nostalgic reasons.

If gossip is correct, Mark`s current contract expires in the summer, so today could be the last time he plays in front of the home crowd.

Peterborough United Team News:

Peterborough United`s injury news is that defender Gabriel Zakuani (groin) has recovered.

Left-backs Jamie Day (back) and Tom Williams (knee) remain out for the rest of the season, and top-scorer Craig Mackail-Smith will have a late fitness test.

Player to watch: Aaron McLean

Having returned to the club in the F.A. Cup last year where he netted against the U`s, you`d expect him to do it again. The one-time Colchester trailist has 18 goals this season. Watch out!
