Prutton`s Poyet Friendship Could Seal Deal

David Prutton`s future as a possible Brighton-bound free agent looks likelier than him committing to Colchester United because of a closeness between the player and Seagulls boss, Gus Poyet.

Prutton was recently offered a new deal to stay with Aidy Boothroyd at Colchester after they struck a rapport themselves following the 28-year-old`s arrival from Leeds United. It has since sensibly been retracted by U`s Chirman and owner Robbie Cowling because Boothroyd decided to take on a new job at Coventry City.

Hence, Brighton`s manager Poyet has been able to jump on to the negotiation table, reveling he already knew Prutton “very well” due to their shared time in Yorkshire as a former assistant manager.

On the current situation, Poyet told the local Brighton Argus: “Things change every day. He would be a great addition to the squad but it’s not going to be that simple and we need to make sure he will fit within our wage bill.”
