Rumour has it that Reading have tabled a £2m final offer for Greg Halford, knocking Colchester’s £4m price tag.
Offers of £1.2m and £1.5m have already been rejected by Colchester.
Reading football director Nicky Hammond said: ‘The market is inflated and we realise there’s a premium to be paid for signing players in January, but some fees being quoted are ridiculous.’
Colchester have already proved this season that they are not push overs when it comes to compensation, however with Halford’s contract up in the summer, selling now seems the sensible thing to do, or is this what clubs are counting on?
