Referee Kettle Spoils Good Game!

Colchester stormed into an early 2 – 0 lead, only to allow Watford back into the game, eventually going down 2-3 at Layer Road.

Clive Platt opened the scoring on 7 mins with on loan defender Matt Connolly adding a second some time later.

Watford came back into the game after Virgo had slipped allowing King to unleash a powerful shot into the far corner of Gerkens net on 40 mins, and with team mate O’Toole heading home 2 mins later, Colchester watched their lead disappear just before half time.

Taking nothing away from our visitors the home crowd were wondering whether referee Kettle who officially hails from Berkshire, was an unofficial Hornets fan, as he did everything within his power to ensure that all decisions went the way of the visitors, even if it was blatantly obvious that it should have gone to the home side. 8 Yellow cards in a game played in the right way by two footballing sides, where a bad tackle was not witnessed in 90 mins. I will go as far to call Mr Kettle a CHEAT, he was blatantly cheating, his reason to me unknown, I am sorry to rant about this poor excuse for a referee but needed to let of steam!

It’s not very often you hear the home crowd chant ‘We want a ref’ when their side is 2-0 up against the league leaders, but Mr Kettle managed it tonight!

Indeed I have no complaints about any of Watford’s goal, they were all taken well against a defence that leaks more than the preverbal sieve.

After watford had drawn level in the first period Tamas Priskin completed the comeback scoring the winner after Colchester failed to clear away the danger.

In my opinion a draw would have been a fair result, however Watford are where they are for a reason, and putting the debacle of a Referee to one side their quality and particularly Marlon King edged it on the night!

Am really surprised to read this…Watford never get the rub of the green! We are way to physical for most of the refs in the league and have a number of players whose reputation goes before them!

  • Deeno says:

Well you did on Tuesday mate, although I take nothing from you for winning the game Mr Kettle done everything but give you a goal!

  • StevieG Col U says:

Yeah agree Deeno, was TERRIBLE, Doyley came right through and rugby tackled Yeatesy and we never even got a free-kick…

We at Millmoor know him well from a derby at Barnsley a couple of years back…he sent off 2 of our players and our Manager in very acrimonious circumstances.
Doubt he will ever get one of our games again……you have our sympathies.

Great, we needed those points! Thanks a bunch, ref!

  • StevieG Col U says:

Feel sorry for you Rotherom fans if you had a game with him in charge……and the fact it was against Barnsley in ur local derby.

  • zipadeedoodah says:

Sorry, i forgot….it was 3 players he sent off for Rotherham.
He sent Murdock off at the final whistle as he totally lost it.
