Colchester have had something of an indifferent season but Saturday proved a very good day for them with a good victory over Preston secured at The WHCS.

Steven Gillespie (19) struck just before the 20-minute mark to give Colchester the lead, which they took into the half time break.

Early in the second half Gillespie (52) was on target again, his penalty extending the lead for The U’s.

Victory was already confirmed by the time Andrew Bond (90+4) struck deep into injury-time to secure a 3-0 win for Colchester.
