Return for Yeates?

Despite recently netting for Tottenham Hotspur during a reserve match against Arsenal, after returning from a loan spell at Hull, former U`s man Mark Yeates could make a surprise return to East Anglia before the transfer window closes on 31st January.

He was a key component of Phil Parkinson`s promotion side last season, and could extend Colchester United`s attacking options should any deal arise. The versatile player – a striker by trade, is able to provide cover out wide. His arrival would allow the U`s the option to revert to a favored 4-3-3 formation, with Chris Iwelumo and Greg Halford linking up in a three-pronged attack, employed last season on several occasions.

Yeates, who has been on loan at Hull City this season, made 52 appearances in total for Colchester, scoring 6 times, between August 2005 and May 2006.

The Spurs number 28 is highly thought of in London, and, should he return to Layer Road, it would be a dramatic U-turn from the Premiership club, who are keen to integrate him into top-flight level football.
