Should U`s Move For Danns?

Following increased speculation that Birmingham City manager Steve Bruce is to bolster his midfield for next season in the top-flight, a strong internet-based rumour is linking Neil Danns with a Layer Road return.

Danns, whose attacking forays during his time in Essex made him a cult hero and terrace favourite, was only signed by Bruce last summer but has frequently stated his desire to play more first-team football. There is also a widespread belief that the man who scored three league goals last term would not cut in the Premiership.

The midfielder, who first shot to fame in Essex, has recently been linked with a £500,000 move to League One big-guns Nottingham Forest, and would have almost certainly joined them if the play-off losers had gained a promotion to the Championship under Colin Calderwood.

Failure of this move to materialise has lead to calls in Colchester for the club to re-sign Danns, 24, on loan, although supporters remain concerned that family ties would not permit the fairytale homecoming.
