Saturday’s two-goal hero Karl Duguid, as he told The Gazette, wants to ‘stay at Colchester for the rest of his life.’

After a 3-year spell away from the club the midfielder eventually returned to The U’s and he wants this to be for ‘the rest of his life’ now: ‘I went away for three years and I enjoyed my time at Plymouth but I missed the place and when I got the chance to play for the club again, it was special.

‘I thank the chairman and the manager for that, along with everyone at the football club.

‘I’ve got a year’s contract and when I celebrated my second goal, I was just showing that I want to be at this football club for the rest of my life.’

Duguid still has a few years left in him so if he keeps scoring then I am sure that he will at least stay beyond the end of his existing deal.
