John Ward is still looking for a striker, Kevin Lisbie is still a free agent – surely this is a perfect match? Or is it…

Lisbie has already made it quite clear that he would be willing to return to The U’s for a third spell, but said that had not had any contact made with him by the coaching staff at Colchester.

At 33-years of age his best years are probably behind him but two successful spells with the club make it hard to think that he could not do a job for a third time.

Ward, it would seem, has little interest in the striker though and the fact that no one – he has been linked with Gillingham recently – has signed him since his release by Ipswich in the summer tells you something, perhaps…

The emergency loan window reopens tomorrow so maybe Ward has other options in mind?
