Young manager Micky Adams has been in charge at Port Vale for seven days, just weeks after seemingly bowing out of football for good.

Speculation surrounding the former Colchester assistant manager and Leicester City boss after he left relegation-threatened Brighton was that he was taking a footballing sabbatical to find his feet.

The 47-year-old became a full-time school
coach at a soccer academy following his hazardous return to League One management this season with Brighton.

Since then, however, Adams has returned as boss of Port Veil, where he has welcomed a chance to build his own side without the pressure of needing instant results.

Adams said: “I want to become part of the reason why players want to come to this club because they see we want to build something. I have not been given the opportunity to build in the past.”

The League Two side have sold just three thousand season tickets for the 2009/10 season, down by half as many as this time last year, so Adams` first challenge is to encargue fans to buy into his new vision of the future.

Vital Colchester would like to wish Adams the best of luck in his new job.
