It’s a break from league 1 football this weekend as the FA Cup takes centre stage again with Colchester in action away from home.

Colchester look to react to the humiliating six-nil thrashing we suffered against Milton Keynes Dons in league 1 last weekend in an all league 1 FA Cup tie against Peterborough United at London Road on Sunday afternoon.

We’ve got a concern surrounding Alex Gilbey (tight hamstring) so he could miss out as we look to end a run of six without a win in all competitions, another that’s definitely out is loanee Will Packwood (suspension) after he was send off on his debut in that defeat.

Magnus Okuonghae, Tosin Olufemi and Frankie Kent are all out long-term.

Peterborough will be missing Marcus Maddison (illness/ankle) but haven’t got permission to feature loanee Craig Mackail-Smith and with Harry Beautyman cup-tied they would be stretched up front had Bradford City not given another loanee Aaron Mclean permission.

Ahead of the game Tony Humes told BBC Essex: ‘Both clubs have come off poor performances last weekend and both will be looking to put it right.

‘I know Darren, I know he is experienced. He will be looking to put it right.

‘It will be probably be a cagey game to begin with. We have to make sure we’re strong and compact after last weekend.’
