Teddy: I’ll Play When Williams Wants

New Colchester striker Teddy Sheringham revealed to those in the media gantry for his press conference on Wednesday that he hopes to play as much football as possible next season, although backed new manager Geraint Williams to select him when best for the side.

“I know my legs probably won`t last 90 minuets of Saturday-Wednesday-Saturday-Wednesday throughout the season,” the ex-England star told Vital Colchester and the other assembled members of the press.

“I had a Championship year with West Ham three years ago and it was tough going. I know it`s a big division, you`ve got to be at the top of your game to compete with the big teams all the time.”

Sheringham, who spent three seasons with West Ham before his move to Essex, also said he bares no ill-will toward former boss Alan Curbishly, despite acknowledging that, after only starting four times last season, he did not play see an acceptable amount of action.

He told those at the conference: “These things happen in football. I`ve had a lot of managers that like the way I play football over the years.

“They [West Ham] did their job; they got out of trouble. I had a barren time, but I don`t think it`ll have any baring on what I want to do this year, or next year.”
